The sounds of meowing coming from a pipe alerted a local to the plight of a feline stuck somewhere deep underground in the Russian town of Voronezh on September 25. The trapped kitten was discovered by a resident of a nearby house, who first investigated the pipe before calling for help. Some workers nearby came to help out in the rescue efforts and they soon discovered that a cat was indeed stuck in the pipe at a depth of about 5 feet and organized a rescue effort to pull her out.
Four puppies got stuck in some tar mud near the Russian city of Noyabrsk last July, but animal welfare activists heard about their plight and came to the rescue. Activists were able to dig three puppies out of the muck just in time, but, unfortunately, one of the puppies had already died before help arrived. The three surviving puppies received immediate medical attention from activists and veterinarians, who spent several days cleaning the sludge from the puppies.
Kitten overboard! A small and scared baby cat was found struggling against the might waves of the Black Sea by boaters near the quiet vacation town of Kabardinka on Wednesday. The brave rescuers pulled the kitten to safety on a small boogie board and brought her into the safety of their boat to warm her up from the freezing waters. They then fed her a fish, which she ate with delight. The family is reportedly considering adoption of this curious little kitten, whose insatiable wonder definitely cost her one of her nine lives.
If a cat has nine lives, this lucky kitten certainly lost one of on Thursday after becoming stranded in front of oncoming traffic on a Kaliningrad highway. It's not exactly clear how the little kitty got on the highway in the first place, but the footage shows at the tiny feline manages to evade several vehicles before a good samaritan stops on the highway.
