And as the Trump family has become personam non grata among the Manhattan hoi-polloi, it makes sense that President Donald Trump intends to settle there. Now, Business Insider reports even more members of the Trump clan may be making the state their home after President Donald Trump leaves office. The once-again impeached President and first lady Melania Trump plan to take up residence at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort. Donald Trump, Jr. and his girlfriend, GOP operative Kimberly Guilfoyle, are house-hunting in Jupiter, Florida--home to Trump Jr.'s ex-wife and children. And Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner have dropped $32 million on a bare lot on a private island near Miami, dubbed 'Billionaire's Bunker.'
On Monday, First lady Melania Trump lashed out at her critics in a statement. This is her first public remarks since last Wednesday's violent siege of the Capitol building by her husband's loyalists. Melania expressed sympathy for those who died during or from injuries sustained amid last Wednesday's riot. Business Insider reports she named each of the individuals. She misspelled the name of one rioter killed by Capitol Police. Melania lifted a line from her speech last August at the Republican National Convention.
First lady Melania Trump and President Donald Trump's adult children have been avoiding the spotlight since the violent events unfolded this week. And according to Business Insider, a White House source says that Melania is mentally 'checked out' and doesn't want to 'get involved' anymore. As a mob of Trump supporters broke into the US Capitol on Wednesday, Mrs. Trump chose to focus on finishing a photoshoot for her coffee table book. The book is about decorative items she's restored in the president's residence since her husband took office four years ago. A source familiar with the first lady's schedule says Mrs. Trump was busy overseeing the photographing of rugs and other items in the West Wing.
President Donald Trump's next residence after he departs the White House is his members-only club Mar-a-Lago. As Trump played golf and dithered over whether to sign the most recent coronavirus relief bill, he also inspected the ongoing renovations to his Florida resort. And according to CNN, POTUS was unhappy with the changes to his private quarters--many of which were overseen by his wife, first lady Melania Trump. Sources say Trump had many 'loud conversations' with others about the changes and ordered some new pieces of furniture to be removed immediately. One source at the club said Trump is spending more time than usual behind closed doors and not mingling as much with club members. The vibe is off.
