Kansas Lawmakers Pass Adoption Bill Critics Say Biased Against Gay Couples


On Friday, the Kansas Legislature approved a bill that allows faith-based adoption agencies to turn away gay and lesbian couples based on religious beliefs. The state’s governor has already said that he would sign measure. In a statement, Republican Governor Jeff Colyer said “Catholic Charities and other adoption agencies are key to the fabric of our communities." Colyer continued to say that he looks "forward to signing this bill because it increases the opportunities for needy children to find loving homes.”
