High Lead Levels Remain In Flint

Description

It's been five months since the state of Michigan decided to transfer Flint's drinking water source back to the Great Lakes, following a catastrophic experiment using the Flint River. But even after 5 months, the residents of flint still cannot drink tap water. This isn’t due to heightened caution. It’s because not one lead service line has been replaced in Flint until recently. Water tested in homes is still far above the EPA’s action level for lead. When the state switched the water supply, it did not properly treat the water. This caused pipes to corrode, and lead and heavy metals leeched into the water supply. So while the water is back to its original source, the damaged pipes are still causing harm.
