‘The Meg’ Has Better Than Expected Opening Weekend

“The Meg” premiered in 4,119 screens and made $16.5 million on its opening day. The film is expected to make $40 million throughout its opening weekend. This is almost twice as much as expected with the film projected to make $25 million in its opening. A higher profit is good news for Warner Bros. since they’re reported budget was $130 million. According to SFGate, the film will need to make $400 million globally to break-even.
