Life goes on in Barcelona almost a year after Catalonia attacks

The attacks in Catalonia seem to have failed to scare tourists away from las Ramblas in Barcelona, but some still have fresh memories from one year ago, when a van ploughed into a crowd of pedestrians.

  • Trio on trial for helping 2017 Barcelona attackers

    The trial opens of three men accused of helping the jihadists behind the 2017 attacks in Barcelona and a nearby town that killed 16 people. Held under tight security, the trial began shortly after 0900 GMT at a branch of Spain's National Court in San Fernando de Henares near Madrid. A total of 235 witnesses will be called during the trial which is expected to run until December 16. The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the double attack which also wounded 140 people on August 17 and 18 in Barcelona and Cambrils, a resort 100 kilometres (60 miles) to the south.
