The French Senate adopted an immigration bill after it won the support of the far-right under Marine LePen. The bill, a flagship reform for President Macron, will be voted on at the Assembly later in the evening. SOUNDBITE
The Law committee at France's National Assembly begins going throught nearly 1,500 amendments to the Immigration bill, some designed to undo the text passed by the Senate, others to make it even tougher. The committee aims to produce a text that can be voted on by a majority of MPs by Sunday. IMAGES

In the Opéra district of Paris, police use tear gas on several occasions to disperse hundreds of demonstrators gathered in support of the "Solidarity March", to defend the rights of undocumented migrants exposed to coronavirus in detention centres.
