Chipotle Has Made Hundreds Of People Sick In Ohio

Hundreds of people have reported falling ill this week after eating at Chipotle in Ohio. As of July 31, 518 people made inquiries related to a possible outbreak of foodborne illness at Chipotle. Gizmodo reports the Ohio Department of Health is testing for salmonella, shigella, and norovirus. The Delaware County, Ohio location was shut down and inspected by health officials on Monday. It reopened the next day and will be inspected again later this week. Chipotle experienced two outbreaks of E. coli in 2015.

  • Michael Flynn: President Trump, Please Suspend The Constitution And Declare Martial Law

Former national security advisor Michael Flynn shared an ad from a right-wing activist group on Twitter on Tuesday. The group is calling on President Donald Trump to invoke martial law, to 'temporarily suspend the Constitution,' and have the military hold a new election. In his post, Flynn tagged several Trump-supporting lawyers and media personalities, and wrote, 'Freedom never kneels except for God.' Business Insider reports the ad came from Tom Zawistowski, the president of a right-wing Ohio activist group called the We The People Convention. In fact, the president may not unilaterally cancel, delay, postpone, or change the date of an election, even if he declares martial--that power lies with Congress. Declaring martial law also does not suspend the Constitution, and the military has no role in administering elections.

  • Sitting This One Out? The Six Reasons People Can't Or Won't Vote

Despite all the brouhaha surrounding the 2020 US presidential election, not everyone--believe it or not--plans to vote. According to Business Insider, Americans who have chosen not to vote fall into six general categories. The first has to do with accessing the polling place: lacking time, transportation, child care, or problems with getting registered to vote. The second group could be named the 'Why bothers?' These people feel their votes don't count, the election is rigged, or their state has a lock on the opposing party. The third group can't vote because they're not allowed to. Perhaps they are felons, or are not US citizens, or owe outstanding fines. The fourth group won't vote because they dislike both candidates. The fifth group just doesn't feel like voting, and the sixth group cited religious or other reasons.
