US Officials Debate 'Genocide' Label For Myanmar

Description

A State Department investigation has found that Myanmar’s military exhibited “premeditation and coordination” prior to the mass slaughter of Rohingya Muslims last year. According to Politico, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo plans to deliver a speech on the subject this week. Meanwhile, the Trump administration has apparently not yet decided if they will call it a “genocide.” Rohingya Muslims have faced persecution for decades in Buddhist-majority Myanmar, which is also known as Burma.
