Study Finds Baby Walkers Still Cause Serious Injuries

Description

According to Business Insider, Doctors are calling for a ban on baby walkers. This after a recent study found the devices still cause serious injuries. The study was published online Monday in the journal Pediatrics. From 1990 to 2014, over 200,000 infants went to the ER with walker-related injuries. Walkers are typically used by infants in the 5 to 15-month age range. Because the devices have wheels, they give increased mobility to babies still learning to walk. They also expose infants to potentially dangerous situations. Most walker-related injuries happen when a child falls down the stairs. Walkers allow babies to reach sharp objects, household poisons, or other dangerous surfaces. The American Academy of Pediatrics says the devices have no benefits and should be banned.
