New York (CNN)A New York Supreme Court judge has banned reporters and the general public from portions of Friday's pretrial hearing in the sexual assault case against movie mogul Harvey Weinstein. Judge James Burke on Friday morning granted requests by both defense and prosecuting attorneys to close major portions of the day's proceedings -- including arguments over whether prosecutors can introduce at trial evidence of alleged wrongdoing for which Weinstein is not charged.
Disgraced movie producer Harvey Weinstein has revealed to the public the identity of his new legal representation. Extra TV reports Weinstein returned to New York Supreme Court Friday in order for Justice James Burke to approve his change in legal team. Last week, Weinstein and his lawyer Ben Brafman announced they planned to part ways. Harvey's new lawyers are Ronald Sullivan, Jose Baez and Duncan Levin, and Pamela Robillard Mackey.
(CNN)Moments after a judge decided that Harvey Weinstein's rape case would move forward to trial after his attorneys sought a dismissal, many celebrated the decision. Actress and activist Amber Tamblyn was at the New York courthouse for Thursday's hearing, alongside Nia Vardalos, Marisa Tomei and Jennifer Esposito. "This morning we showed up in Criminal court to witness Harvey Weinstein and his case not be dismissed," Tamblyn wrote in a tweet. We'll be there again on March 7th and look forward to seeing him prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
