Facebook will begin removing all content that mentions the phrase "stop the steal". This comes a full 69 days after Election Day, according to reports at CNN. There have been continued attempts to organize events against the outcome of the US presidential election. Many of them have lead to violence, like the terror attacks on the Capitol recently. "We're taking this additional step in the lead up to the inauguration," says Guy Rosen, Facebook's VP of integrity. "Stop the steal" has become popular among Trump supporters that believe false claims of election fraud.
The European Medicines Agency is the EU regulatory body responsible for COVID-19 vaccine approval. Now, Gizmodo reports a cyberattack on EMA's servers has produced an 'unlawful access' of documents related to a potential COVID-19 vaccine. The EMA’s own statement on the attacks doesn’t disclose much, but does confirm that the breach happened. However, pharma giant Pfizer and its German partner, BioNTech, announced that some of their own documents were caught up in the breach. There’s a chance that this latest attack might push Pfizer/BioNTech's timeline for an EU regulatory review of its proposed vaccine back a bit.
Since the 19th century, the infamous Pinkerton spy agency has a history of union-busting and involving itself in businesses. Now, Business Insider reports Amazon has turned to Pinkerton to monitor European workers' labor union organizing efforts. Leaked documents from Amazon's Global Security Operations Center revealed analysts have been tracking workers' union organizing activities. A report from Motherboard also disclosed that Amazon data analysts use social media to monitor social justice and environmental activist groups' activities. It's the latest in a string of evidence that highlights Amazon's robust efforts to monitor and crack down on its workers unionizing. Earlier this year, Amazon listed, but quickly removed, a job opening for an analyst that would monitor employee's efforts to organize.
