  • Honda - Why We Race

Mr. Honda set off on his trip to Europe on June 9, 1954. His primary objective was to observe the Isle of Man TT Races with his own eyes. He arrived at this Mecca of motorcycle racing, once only a distant object of desire, on June 13. The first thing he did was to inspect the race courses. These were not circuits built exclusively for racing, but literal road courses, sections of ordinary roadway closed off for the races. One was the Mountain course, 60.725 km long, and the other was the 17.36-km long Clyps course. Both appeared even more demanding than he had heard. His first sight of the assembled Grand Prix machines from all those different countries also overwhelmed Honda. He examined them in minute detail, squatting down in his usual way. Have a look at this historcial Honda video - Why We Race.

  • Jaguar Land Rover - Virtual Eye Pod

Jaguar Land Rover has fitted ‘virtual eyes’ to intelligent pods to understand how humans will trust self-driving vehicles, as research studies suggest that as many as 63% of pedestrians worry about how safe it will be to cross the road in the future. The friendly-faced ‘eye pods’ have a vital job: helping work out how much information future self-driving cars should share with users or pedestrians to ensure that people trust the technology. As part of the engineering project, Jaguar Land Rover has enlisted the help of a team of cognitive psychologists to better understand how vehicle behaviour affects human confidence in new technology.

  • The new Jaguar XE is a Hyper-real work of Art

The new Jaguar XE brings innovative technology, the latest convenience systems and enhanced connectivity to the compact saloon class.Jaguar's advanced Touch Pro Duo infotainment system is now available, putting control of all key systems at the driver's fingertips using a pair of HD touchscreens and intuitive, tactile rotary dials. The minimalist system was first introduced in the all-electric I-PACE and features a large upper screen which delivers impressive clarity, responsiveness and enhanced functionality. The lower touchscreen can be used to adjust settings, such as for climate control, without disrupting the upper screen, while intuitive capacitive switches ensure the driver is able to change settings without diverting their attention from the road. Combined with the latest generation 12.3-inch Interactive Driver Display instrument cluster, all of the important information a driver needs is logically and intuitively displayed to minimise distraction.Jaguar's latest generation larger and brighter Head-up Display helps drivers to keep their eyes on the road. The full-colour set-up, projects key information such as satellite navigation directions, current speed data and the incoming caller contact name directly into the driver's eye line. The first-in-segment ClearSight interior rear view mirror uses a rear-facing camera to feed images to a high-resolution screen within the mirror. A small toggle switch on the mirror allows the driver to switch seamlessly between the standard mirror and the camera feed. This means the rear view is not blocked by rear passengers or obstructed by water on the rear screen and it also gives a wider 50-degree field of vision, enhancing safety on wide multi-lane carriageways.

  • Nissan Qashqai - Engine & Interior

"The impact of the premium upgrades to the Nissan Qashqai is most obvious in the cabin. They have resulted in the highest levels of perceived quality and refinement, a more driver-oriented interior and an enhanced feeling of total control. Entering the car, the striking new steering wheel is the first thing drivers will notice. It echoes the design of Nissan's newest models globally, including the all-new Micra and the new X-Trail, and is standard across the Qashqai range. Now D-shaped, the horizontal base means easier entry and exit for the driver, as well as providing a more sporty look and feel. The steering wheel's compact central hub is smaller than before and the three spokes are slimmer, creating an upper space that's larger by 17% to improve instrument visibility. The four-way controllers for the combimeter display (left spoke) and cruise control (right spoke) are new, and offer customers more intuitive use and reduced 'eyes off the road' time. The rim's width has been widened - from 34mm to 37.5mm - to provide a more comfortable and safer grip. A new premium style comes from the satin silver detailing on the central spoke, which echoes the shape of Nissan's iconic 'V-motion' front grille. Many other areas of the cabin have been upgraded. The air vents and interior door handles are finished in higher-quality, more tactile materials, while smart new stitching has been added to the centre console armrest between the two front seats from Acenta grade. The Qashqai's headliner is now dark from Tekna grade. For customers choosing a Qashqai with the CVT XTronic automatic transmission a leather-style gaiter has been added to the gear selector. One-touch power window switches are now featured on all four doors and standard across the range. Additionally, all windows can be opened and closed together remotely via the key fob - for example, to help cool the vehicle quickly on hot days."

  • Chevrolet - Drowsy Driving

For most states, daylight saving time begins on Sunday, March 10. Because many Americans feel like they’ve lost an hour of sleep during the time change, Chevrolet is helping bring awareness to the dangerous effects of being tired while driving. Maureen Short, Chevy Safety engineer and drowsy driving expert, has provided some helpful do’s and don’ts along with signs that you could be driving drowsy.Chevy’s Drowsy Driving Do’s and Don’ts Do phone a friend — If you get drowsy driving home from work or on a long journey, ask a passenger to help you stay awake, phone a friend with hands-free calling or push your Chevy OnStar button and talk live with an advisor. Do get in the game — If you start to feel your mind wander, go old-school and play “I Spy” or the billboard alphabet game. Engaging your mind can often help you stay alert so you can focus on the road ahead. Do use your tech — Engage all available active safety features before you start any journey. Today’s safety features such as Chevy’s lane-keep assist can help alert drivers when they are drifting. Keeping active safety features enabled helps you stay extra aware of your surroundings. Don’t rely on that energy drink — There is no better way to tackle tiredness than getting the recommended amount of sleep. If you’re too tired to focus, consider pulling over in a safe place for a nap or find the nearest hotel to get a good night’s rest. Don’t push it — We’ve all tried to get that last 30 minutes of a long journey in or had too early of a start in the morning. Just remember how important it is to stay alert on the road, because the consequences of drowsy driving can be devastating.Signs you are driving drowsy: Continually yawning or the inability to keep eyes open. You can’t recall the last few miles traveled or are missing exits. Drifting from lane and/or engaging the rumble strips on the side of the road. Frequent tailgating, braking or other unsafe driving maneuvers. Active safety features (like lane keep assist, lane departure warning and others) have been engaged more than average.
