The new GLE Coupé from Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG blends the sportiness and elegance of a coupé with the engineering of the new large premium-SUV model series from Mercedes-Benz. At the launch, powerful six-cylinder diesel engines in the form of the 350 d and 400 d (combined fuel consumption 8.0-7.5 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 212-197 g/km)[1] are initially available. Together with the new 4MATIC with torque on demand and the wheelbase 60 mm shorter than on the GLE SUV they ensure a pleasurably dynamic driving experience. The petrol version available at market launch is the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé (combined fuel consumption 9.3 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 212 g/km)1. Preparations are under way for a plug-in-hybrid version with a practical, locally emission-free range as for the GLE SUV.
With the new Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 HYBRID 4MATIC+ as an SUV and as Coupé the performance and sports car brand from Affalterbach is supplementing the model portfolio with a plug-in hybrid with a high level of everyday use and long electric range. The basis for the sporty driving experience is the 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder turbo engine. For use in the hybrid, the engine known from the conventional GLE was extensively modified again. At 330 kW (449 hp), it now produces 10 kW (14 hp) more than before. The update measures include reprogrammed software and an additional nose cooler. The electric additional compressor could be omitted in the hybrid variant because the electric motor takes over its tasks such as electrical boosting. The result: The 3.0‑litre engine reacts extremely spontaneously and offers highly dynamic response. The in-line six‑cylinder is combined with a 100‑kW electric motor, a traction battery with 31.2 kWh capacity and the fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive. The high power density of the hybrid power unit is achieved by the permanently excited internal rotor synchronous technology. The electric motor's maximum torque of 480 Nm is available from the first revolution and ensures high agility even when starting off.

With the new EQS 53 4MATIC+ Mercedes-AMG is embarking on the all-electric future of Driving Performance. The first battery-electric AMG production model is based on the Mercedes EQ architecture for luxury and executive-class vehicles. It thus fits seamlessly into the Group-wide electric strategy. The luxury saloon with an output of up to 560 kW has been newly developed or refined in Affalterbach in all performance-related areas. It impresses with brand-specific features wherever the customer can experience them directly: from the technology to the exterior/interior design and the emotive vehicle sound. At the heart of the new Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ is its performance-oriented drive concept with two motors. The powerful electric powertrain with one motor each at the front and rear axles has fully-variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, which optimally transmits the drive power to the asphalt in all driving conditions. The basic version achieves a maximum total output of 484 kW (658 hp), with a maximum motor torque of 950 Nm. With the AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package, which is available as an option, the maximum output increases to up to 560 kW (761 hp) in RACE START mode with boost function. The maximum motor torque is then up to 1020 Nm.
