Iran's Foreign Minister Resigns

Description

According to Business Insider, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif has resigned. Foreign Minister Zarif also posted his resignation on social media, apologizing for any shortcomings during his tenure at the post. Zarif assumed his post at the foreign ministry back in 2013, and was instrumental in negotiating the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action in 2015, which is known as the Iranian nuclear accord. His negotiations with the UN Security Council's member nations ended some economic sanctions against Iran. Although a successor has not been named to head the foreign ministry, President Hassan Rouhani accepted his resignation.
