California's New Governor Criticized Trump During Inauguration

Reuters reports Democrat Gavin Newsom criticized President Donald Trump immediately upon being sworn in as California’s 40th governor on Monday. The 51-year-old governor vowed to keep California a place of tolerance and opportunity. He said to the crowd, “Make no mistake, there are powerful forces arrayed against us." He added the Trump administration is “hostile to California’s values and interests.” Newsom was a former mayor of San Francisco and former lieutenant governor who led efforts to legalize same-sex marriage and to legalize marijuana.
