Joe Manchin, a democratic senator in Trump's America

Description

"I feel comfortable about winning. I feel confident that people are supporting me, but let's say the worst case scenario, that doesn't happen: I get to come home. By God, that's a win-win situation" says West Virginia Democratic Senator Joe Manchin who is fighting to keep his seat in Washington. Often considered the most conservative federal senator in his party, he supported Brett Kavanaugh's candidacy for the United States' Supreme Court.

  • Biden: 'Engage With The World Once Again'

(CNN)US President Joe Biden will rightly spend his first days in office addressing the myriad domestic crises that he has inherited from his predecessor, Donald Trump. However, the transfer of power in the most powerful elected office in the world usually means a change in foreign policy, too. And if President Biden's inaugural address is anything to go by, the global focus for the next four years will chiefly be to restore the world's trust in America after the chaotic foreign policy of the one-term Trump administration.

  • Biden Says His Inauguration Will Be "Reimagined"

On Friday, President-elect Joe Biden said he expects his January 20 inauguration to be a "more imaginative" virtual event. Business Insider reports the event will be much like the 2020 DNC. "It is highly unlikely that there will be a million people on the mall, going all the way down to the [Lincoln] Memorial," Biden said. The decision is in stark contrast to that made by President Trump. Trump began his term in 2017 by arguing about the number of spectators at his inauguration.

  • Michael Flynn: President Trump, Please Suspend The Constitution And Declare Martial Law

Former national security advisor Michael Flynn shared an ad from a right-wing activist group on Twitter on Tuesday. The group is calling on President Donald Trump to invoke martial law, to 'temporarily suspend the Constitution,' and have the military hold a new election. In his post, Flynn tagged several Trump-supporting lawyers and media personalities, and wrote, 'Freedom never kneels except for God.' Business Insider reports the ad came from Tom Zawistowski, the president of a right-wing Ohio activist group called the We The People Convention. In fact, the president may not unilaterally cancel, delay, postpone, or change the date of an election, even if he declares martial--that power lies with Congress. Declaring martial law also does not suspend the Constitution, and the military has no role in administering elections.

  • Trump Flips Fox From Friend To Foe

For years, President Donald Trump was a Fox News superfan, routinely phoning in to give impromptu interviews and receive gushing praise. But now, Business Insider reports Trump is waging war against the network. What's more, he's encouraging his supporters to migrate over to more MAGA-friendly channels like Newsmax and One America News Network. As it increasingly challenges Trump's baseless election fraud claims, Fox News is under a siege of its own making. With its recognition of Joe Biden as President-elect, Fox News' favorability ratings among Republicans fell by 13% following the election.

  • Still Donating To Trump's MAGA Fund? FYI, Here's Where The Money Is Really Going

President Donald Trump's campaign is still seeking donations from voters, even though Trump himself has all but admitted he lost to Joe Biden. But donors should know that 75% of every contribution is now being routed to Trump's newly-established leadership PAC, Save America, up to $5000. Anything over $5000 goes to Trump's Recount Account. Also, 25% of all donations go to the Republican National Committee. These funds could be used to finance Trump's life--or his legal bills--or his family's legal bills-- after he leaves office. It could even go toward a possible 2024 presidential bid. And according to Business Insider, all of these would be legal. Despite the Trump administration's decision to begin the transfer of power, Trump's personal plans for life after January 20, 2021, remain unclear.
