142 Kmart And Sears Stores Closing

Description

Sad news for Kmart shoppers. Business Insider reports that Sears Holdings, Kmart's parent company filed for bankruptcy on October 15. The company oversees 687 Sears and Kmart stores, and plan to shut down 142 of them before the end of 2018. The closure is due to lack of sales, which has handcuffed the company for years. This is also not the first time that Kmart has filed for bankruptcy. Business Insider explains, "In 2002, it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection before merging with Sears in 2005." Before the crippling sales decline, there were thousands of Kmart stores across America.
