Twenty wooden statues were discovered at the Peruvian archaeological complex of Chan Chan. The statues date back to around 800 years ago and were discovered during an archaeological dig. Chan Chan is the largest mud city in America, the capital of pre-Inca empire of the Chimu that dominated the Peruvian north coast between the 12th and 14th centuries.
Thousands of mourners stood alongside the streets of Bangkok for the funeral procession of the late King of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej on Friday, who was the world's longest reigning monarch, as his body was transferred from the hospital to the Grand Palace. Hundreds of people gathered outside the hospital to pray for the king in the days leading up to his death after news of his deteriorating health became public. Many in the crowd broke down in tears once the announcement of his death was made. Prime Minister Chan-ocha informed the Thai people that the king's successor would be Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn and announced that Thailand would hold a one-year period of mourning, reducing entertainment-related events and activities for one month.. The Crown Prince is the only son of King Bhumidol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit.
