Migrants travelling in a caravan through southern Mexico throw stones and hit security forces with sticks on a highway in the town of Pijijiapan. Mexican activist Luis Garcia Villagran, one of the leaders of the caravan, says the skirmishes broke out after agents began to detain women and children straggling behind the main group.
Mexico deploys hundreds of riot police to its border with Guatemala as a caravan of Central American migrants prepares to cross on the way to the United States, in defiance of US President Donald Trump.
