Yalitza Aparicio Almost Didn't Take The Role In Oscar-Nominated Film 'Roma'

Description

Alfonso Cuarón's "Roma" is the most Oscar-recognized foreign language film in history. According to Business Insider, the film received 10 Academy Award nominations. Yalitza Aparicio, an indigenous Mexican actress, received a best actress nomination for her role in “Roma.” This film was actually Aparicio’s first acting job and only tried out for the role because her sister made her do it. Cuarón had been looking for almost a year before finding Aparicio and knowing she was perfect for the role.
