President Donald Trump and the GOP have filed dozens of lawsuits since Election Day. They are looking to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Business Insider have sued in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. They've notched zero victories. There are 38 cases where they've withdrawn or lost. There are four cases pending.
President Donald Trump's campaign and Republican officials have filed nearly two dozen lawsuits since Election Day. It's an attempt to contest the results of the 2020 election. But according to Business Insider, none of the lawsuits so far have ended in victory. The campaign filed lawsuits and motions to intervene in cases in swing states Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, and Pennsylvania. They've notched zero victories, 19 cases where they've withdrawn or lost. Three cases remain pending. The Trump campaign had one win in Pennsylvania, where a judge ruled an issue over voter ID. verification. However, the state Supreme Court later overturned it.
In PA, MN, and TX, federal judges have ordered election officials to "segregate" certain ballots. The vote-by-mail ballots that arrive late are being set aside in case another court invalidates them. Around 127,000 votes that were cast at drive-thru locations in TX during the early voting period. Those ballots have been specially marked for the same reason, says Business Insider. All of these court orders came after extensive litigation and it's not clear how many votes are at risk.
Judge Amy Coney Barrett is to be the next Supreme Court Justice, filling the seat left by the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Business Insider reports the Senate on Monday voted to confirm Coney Barrett along party lines in a 52-48 vote. Only one Republican, US Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, voted against Barrett's nomination. The 48-year-old was confirmed just eight days before Election Day, and to vociferous opposition from Senate Democrats. Democratic senators are fuming over Republican South Carolina Senator Judge Lindsay Graham's refusal to take a COVID-19 test. Democratic Judiciary Committee senators warned him not to proceed with the Supreme Court nomination hearing next week for Judge Amy Coney Barrett. According to Business Insider, the letter said in part, 'We need not proceed in such a reckless and blind fashion.' Graham's decision threatened to scuttle the debate with Democratic opponent Jamie Harrison. Harrison said he would not debate in Graham in person if the incumbent did not get tested.
