TOKYO (Reuters) - Nissan ex-Chairman Carlos Ghosn has requested his release on bail after being indicted in Tokyo on Friday on two new charges, his lawyers said, as the once-feted auto executive awaits a lengthy criminal trial that could be as long as six months away.     TOKYO -- A Tokyo court on Tuesday rejected ousted Nissan Chairman Carlos Ghosn's appeal to end his detention following his arrest last month on allegations of financial misconduct. In the past, suspects who have been indicted have seldom been freed on bail, but in recent years that has become more common, said Masashi Akita, a defense lawyer. Ghosn’s lawyers say the charge that Ghosn helped himself by converting compensation to deferred pay is flawed because the compensation agreement was not properly ratified, according to a statement by the office of Motonari Otsuru, Ghosn’s lawyer.

The disgraced automotive executive was first arrested in Tokyo late last year due to allegations of financial misconduct. He was released from jail a second time on April 25th, after paying $4.5 million for bail. Ghosn also agreed to limit contact with his wife as he awaits trial.
