Yet Brett Giroir raised concerns on Fox News about "overly restrictive" measures not supported by the science." California Govorner Gavin Newsom announced the latest orders on Sunday, says Business Insider. Newsom is shutting down non-essential businesses due to increased COVID-19 hospitalizations.
The vaccination campaign against the novel coronavirus COVID-19 is rolling along--but very, very slowly. While the FDA has approved two vaccines for distribution, experts say it will be many months before all Americans who want a vaccine can receive one. An NBC News analysis says that at the current pace, it'll take nearly a decade to vaccinate enough Americans to bring the pandemic under control. And according to Business Insider, Brown University's Dr. Ashish K. Jha knows why. He says it's because the Trump administration has bucked the responsibility of vaccine distribution to already overwhelmed state health departments.
UPI reports Ohio State University found nearly 40% of US residents plan to attend gatherings of ten or more people this holiday season. Despite concerns over the spread of COVID-19, one-third of respondents said they wouldn't ask attendees at holiday parties with family or friends to wear masks. The data showed that just over 25% indicated that they wouldn't practice social distancing, either. Figures from Johns Hopkins University report nearly 10.5 million people nationally have been sickened by the virus. More than 240,000 have died from it.
Not every member of the Republican party has accepted the outcome of the 2020 presidential race--including President Donald J. Trump. But according to Business Insider, Republican Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah has. In fact, Romney has called on all Americans to support the incoming administration of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. On CNN's 'State of the Union' on Sunday, Romney told Jake Tapper that Trump 'will accept the inevitable' regarding the outcome, but would not do so gracefully. Don't expect him to go quietly into the night. That's not how he operates. Sen. Dr. Deborah Birx one of the White House's most senior coronavirus advisers, issued a dire warning on November 2. Dr. Birx her warned the Covid-19 pandemic is going to get much, much worse before it gets any better. Birx said: "We are entering the most concerning and most deadly phase of this pandemic". Dr. Birx went on to warn that the coming weeks and months could lead to an increased mortality rate from the virus. Dr, Birx warned that the US could see more than 100,000 new cases per day this week. Birx cautions that as hospitals fill up, we could see a return to hospitals operating at capacity and rationing ventilators.

Similarly, Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic SpaceShipTwo will hasten the pace of testing to create suborbital passenger service. And keep an eye on the maiden flights of the Boeing CST-100 Starliner and the SpaceX Dragon 2 capsules — stepping stones to restore our nation's capabilities for human spaceflight. I expect Elon Musk and his SpaceX rocketeers will fly their Falcon Heavy launcher from the refurbished Launch Complex 39 pad A at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. That's the same site that I rocketed from with my Apollo 11 colleagues, Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins, to achieve the first human landing on the Moon in July 1969! China is headed for several milestone achievements. For one, they will use their new Long March 5 and Long March 7 boosters to advance their goal of building their own space station. In addition, look for China to fly to the moon the robotic Chang'e 5 spacecraft and attempt the first lunar sample return to Earth in more than 40 years. Lastly, look for surprises from mysterious Mars! Now orbiting the Red Planet is the European Space Agency's ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter that in 2017 will "sniff out" whether methane detected on that world is a product of Martian microbes. Personally, I'll be working as hard as ever to rally public and political willpower to hasten the day when those first footfalls on the Red Planet lead to permanent inhabitation of Mars.
