Light Returns To Puerto Rico After Last Year's Devastating Hurricane Season

Description

During hurricanes Irma and Maria, 3.3 million Puerto Ricans lost power, says Huffpost. The island’s electrical grid was damaged, initiating the longest blackout in U.S. history. Approximately 121,000 residents were still in the dark six months after the storms. By June 1, 2018, 11,000 people still had no electricity. As of July 6, a FEMA spokesperson said 99.85 percent of power has been restored. Now the six-month hurricane season will make the already vulnerable system susceptible to falling again.
