  • Contactless Credit Card Donation Jacket for Homeless People Piloted in Amsterdam

Amsterdam based company N=5 piloted their new innovation, a contactless donation jacket for homeless people, on the streets of the Dutch capital. Passers-by reluctant to give cash to beggars will now have the opportunity to donate using their contactless debit and credit cards. It's the 'Helping Heart' because the card reader is sewn over the heart and it allows pedestrians to donate a fixed sum of one euro each time they touch their card to the card reader. People receiving money through the jacket can use the funds at the Stoelen Project Shelter, a care centre for homeless people, to pay for a range of services, from a sleeping space to a warm meal or even an identity card or medical assistance.
