San Juan's Mayor Criticizes Government For Hurricane Maria Response


According to CNN, the mayor of San Juan said bureaucracy and inefficiency resulted in the deaths of thousands of people in the wake of Hurricane Maria. Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz also blamed President Donald Trump and federal officials for not providing more assistance to the Puerto Rican government. But San Juan's mayor also placed blame on Puerto Rican officials for not doing more. A study commissioned by the Puerto Rican government stated nearly 3,000 people died due to the hurricane. Mayor Cruz added that the administration bares responsibility for dead Puerto Ricans due to neglect.

    The Governor of Puerto Rico has thrown himself into the mix asking the Mayor of San Juan to work with him in the effort to rebuild that Island territory. San Juan's Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz is in an all out War with U.S. President Donald Trump, after she pleaded for the Trump administration to stop presenting false interpretations of the current status in Peurto Rico after Hurricane Maria. Trump took to twitter to bash the mayor early Saturday Morning, now the Governor is calling for a truce. Governor Ricardo Rosselló spoke with reporters, noting that he had seen President Trumps tweets. Rossello said: "I do reiterate that the only way for this to work is for us to have collaboration and let me stress this, I am committed to collaborating with everybody. This is a point where we can't look at small differences. We can't establish, you know, differences based on politics."
