A fully operational and intact Enigma I cypher machine from 1944 is to be auctioned off at the Sotheby's auction house in New York City. British scientists, including Alan Turing, with the aid of previous work from Polish cryptographers, managed to crack the code and decipher Nazi Enigma messages during the course of World War Two. According to historians this work saved countless lives as well as hastening the end of the war by at least two years.
These 4 complete mammoth skeletons were discovered side by side in Siberia 15 years ago by construction workers, and scientists believe they were actually a family walking together when disaster struck. The extremely rare collection of mammoth skeletons will be going under the hammer for the Summer's Place Evolution Auction, which is set to take place on November 21 in Billingshurst, and could fetch from $330,000 to $530,000.
