The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey took over the box office race with Django Unchained in second and Les Miserables in Third. But the big story is that The Bond Movie Skyfall is now a Billion Dollar box office movie.
"Wonder Woman 1984" earned $1.5 million at the China box office over the weekend. Business Insider reports that's a 92% decline from its debut in the region. "Wonder Woman 1984" scored a lackluster 7.8 on the Chinese ticketing app Maoyan. The movie scored a 6.5 from the Chinese social network Douban. Those numbers suggest audiences weren't enthused about the movie.
"Wonder Woman 1984" flopped at the international box office over the weekend. The movie earned a paltry $37.5 million, $18 million of which came from China. Many box office experts see this as a sign that Hollywood's power in China is diminishing However, box-office experts say it's too early to make this assessment. Business Insider reports the poor box office could have preceded a surge in piracy. "Worries over this film becoming one of the most pirated pieces of content in history are now significantly higher," said Shawn Robbins, the chief analyst at Box Office Pro.
'Shazam!' has dominated the international box office for it's second week in a row generating $35.9 million after pulling in over $53.5 million in its first week.
A humorous and haunting film, "Boo! A Madea Halloween," beats out some scary competition at the box office this week. Jillian Kitchener reports.
