On Thursday morning the 76th Annual Golden Globe Award nominations were announced at the Beverly Hilton hotel. The awards spotlight the best in film and television, as selected by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The 2019 award show will be hosted by Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg and will air on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at 8 pm ET on NBC.   • Golden Globe Nominations For Two South African Born Stars

    The 2019 Golden Globe nominees were announced on Thursday and two South African born stars each received a nomination. Channel 24 reports that Academy Award winner, Charlize Theron who was born in Benoni received the nod for her work in the comedy-drama, Tully. Singer-songwriter Troye Sivan who was born in Johannesburg also received a nomination for best original song in a motion picture for "Revelation" from the film Boy Erased. The 2019 Golden Globe Awards, will air on Sunday, January 6.

    Canadian actress Sandra Oh and U.S. comedian Andy Samberg will co-host the 2019 Golden Globe Awards in January. According to Reuters, the two celebrities will be first-time hosts for the Golden Globes, which honor both television and film. Nominations for the awards will be announced on December 6th. The televised ceremony on NBC will take place in Beverly Hills, California, on Jan. 6.

    (CNN)"The Favourite," the 18th century period comedy-drama starring Olivia Colman as Queen Anne, looks set to dominate the UK's 2019 BAFTA Awards, gaining 12 nominations including best film, it was announced Wednesday. "Bohemian Rhapsody," "First Man," "Roma" and "A Star is Born" each received seven nominations from the British Academy. Spike Lee's "BlacKkKlansman" and Golden Globe winner "Green Book" were also among the nominations for Best Film.

    The 91st annual Academy Awards nominations were announced Tuesday morning. Netflix's " Roma" tied "The Favourite" with 10 nominations apiece, including best picture, best leading and supporting actress, and best foreign film. "Roma" is the fifth film to ever be nominated for best picture and best foreign film. It could become the first film in history to ever win both awards. Netflix's "Roma" surprised Hollywood with 10 big Academy Award nominations Tuesday morning, tying "The Favourite" for the most nominations. But it's Alfonso Cuarón's streaming movie which could make history at the 2019 Oscars next month. Not only is it the first best picture nomination for Netflix, "Roma" could become the first movie to win awards for best picture and best foreign film in the same year. It's the fifth film ever to be nominated in both categories in the same year. According to a release from the Academy, 1969's "Z," 1998's "Life Is Beautiful," 2000's "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," and 2012's "Amour" are the only other films to ever be nominated for best picture and best foreign film in the same year. While each movie won best foreign film, none of the four won best picture.

    According to Reuters, the TV audience for the 2019 Golden Globe awards fell 2 percent from last year. Around 18.6 million watched Sunday night’s show against 19 million in 2018. However, data showed that viewers in the coveted 18-49 demographic rose four percent. The show was also the most watched telecast in primetime, besides news and sports, since the Oscars last year.
