Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo signed a new five year deal with the Spanish club, in Madrid, on Monday. He spoke to the press, where he expressed his gratitude for his experience at Real Madrid, highlighting his football successes in 2016. Ronaldo has played at the club of the reigning Champions League title-holders since 2009, in which time he has gained the accolade of Real Madrid's all-time leading goal scorer. He is the second highest goal scorer in the history of the Spanish league, behind FC Barcelona Forward Lionel Messi.
The European Space Agency's JUICE space probe successfully launched on a mission to discover whether Jupiter's icy moons are capable of hosting extraterrestrial life in their vast, hidden oceans. The rocket was launched from Europe's spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana and its trajectory is "nominal", i.e. in line with what is expected, according to the teams on site. IMAGES

A Russian Soyuz rocket blasted off from the Baikonur cosmodrome in ex-Soviet Kazakhstan on Wednesday carrying a Japanese billionaire to the International Space Station. The rocket carrying online fashion tycoon Yusaku Maezawa, 46, and his assistant took off at 0738 GMT and is scheduled to arrive at the ISS about six hours later at around 1341 GMT. IMAGES
