Amazon To Raise Minimum Wage To $15 An Hour

Amazon announced on Tuesday that it plans to raise its minimum wage to $15 per hour for all of its US workers. The federal minimum wage in the US is currently $7.25 an hour, says Business Insider. In recent years, the number and percentage of the hourly work force earning the minimum wage or lower has declined. In 2015, about 2.6 million hourly workers in the US were paid at or below the minimum wage. That's about 3.3% of the hourly workforce. By 2017, that number dropped to 1.8 million workers.
