South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham has been a staunch ally of President Donald Trump over the years. He's also inserted himself into the Georgia state election process, in an effort to investigate possible voter fraud. Nevertheless, Graham said on Wednesday said that President-elect Joe Biden should begin receiving intelligence briefings. To date, Biden has not received any briefings, as Trump refuses to concede and the GSA has refused to issue the necessary letter of ascertainment. Business Insider reports Graham has backed Trump's legal efforts, despite there being no evidence of widespread voter fraud.
The United States' 2020 general election is on track to shatter all previous records for voter turnout. According to Business Insider, nearly 140 million votes have already been counted, exceeding 2016's record-breaking 137.1 million votes. The 2020 total is only expected to soar in the coming hours and days. That's because votes, whether in-person or absentee, continue to be counted across the country. Wednesday, battleground states like North Carolina and Pennsylvania remained undecided. Large states such as California and Texas hadn't yet reported all results. However, by midday on Wednesday, Democrat Joe Biden led President Donald Trump by almost 3 million votes.
For months, President Donald Trump has trailed Democratic opponent Joe Biden in the polls. At the same time, Trump has incessantly stirred fears of widespread voter fraud, despite consistently being rebutted by election officials. Now, Business Insider reports Trump told supporters at a closed-door event in Nashville that his campaign expects to dispute individual ballots. Millions of Americans have cast their ballots by post as the coronavirus continues to sweep the US. In several states, the GOP argues ballots received after Election Day should not be counted. In others, signature verification is expected to be a key issue. A Trump campaign official says the campaign has 8,500 lawyers on standby to 'sue if we need to.'
A Florida man apparently tried to follow President Donald Trump's instructions to voters to 'test' the electoral system. Now, he's going to need a lawyer. Newser reports 62-year-old Larry Wiggins was arrested Thursday in Manatee County and faces a 3rd-degree felony charge. He was charged with requesting a mail-in ballot on behalf of another elector. In this case, it was for his now-deceased wife. Wiggins says he was just testing the system, didn't plan to use the ballot, and didn't try to replicate his late wife's signature on her application. I heard so much about ballots being sent in and people just having found them in different places. I said well, let me just send it in and see what's going to happen. Larry Wiggins
