Why Do We Turn To Dogs When Disaster Strikes?

Description

Man’s best friend is often seen working on the front lines and behind the scenes of rescue efforts when disaster strikes. Most recently, a team of dogs and handlers were dispatched to California in response to the Camp Fire in Northern California. The dogs are providing much needed love and comfort to thousands of evacuees at various shelters and churches. Dogs also visited first responders who are working around-the-clock battling the wildfire. Dogs have also been dispatched to other areas where disaster has struck, including the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida, the Las Vegas shooting in 2017, the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting in 2016, as well as the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013.
