Strikes and flares light up the night sky above northern Gaza as Israel struck militant targets on Sunday during the third day of fighting after the end of week-long truce. International concerns over the spiralling civilian death toll mounted over the weekend, with Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry saying that 15,500 people had been killed by Israel's military operation since the beginning of the war.
