Chinese Court Halts Some iPhone Sales Over Qualcomm Dispute

Description

According to CNN, a Chinese court banned the sale and import of the iPhone. The court's decision covers most models of Apple's smartphone, but the ban does not include the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Plus or iPhone XR. The decision is part of an ongoing legal dispute between Apple and Qualcomm. In the lawsuit, Qualcomm claims that Apple violated two of its patents for the iPhone 6, 7, 8, and X, including their variants, like the iPhone 8 Plus. The two patents allow users to edit and resize photos on a phone, and to manage apps using a touchscreen. Although the iPhone models in question are not out-right banned, a Chinese court granted two preliminary injunctions requested by Qualcomm, to prohibit their sale and import.
