Members Of The Conservative Media Turned On Trump Over Border Wall

Description

According to Politico, Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Breitbart, Drudge and Ann Coulter, all took U.S. President Donald Trump to task over his apparent retreat on demands that Congress’ recent spending bill include $5 billion for his long-promised border wall. Now under intense pressure from conservative media, Trump now appears to be reversing his reversal, declaring that no funding deal can go forward without money for the wall. On Twitter, some of the president’s critics actually were taunting him and his supporters. On Wednesday night, Fox News primetime host Laura Ingraham tweeted, “It was supposed to be a 'big beautiful wall' with a 'big beautiful door.' Now it’s just an open door with no frame. Unreal. #BorderDisorder #GOPFail.”

The Secure the Border Act of 2023, which advanced from the Republican-led House of Representatives on a roughly party-line 219-213 vote, would reintroduce several signature Trump-era measures, from completing the wall to bolstering asylum restrictions. Poll after poll suggests that President Donald Trump is a clear underdog against former Vice President Joe Biden. As his popularity with the American people wanes, the President has retreated deeper and deeper into the conservative media world. CNN reports Trump has given 10 times as many interviews to Fox News as he has to any outlet since he became president. In print news, Trump has given eight interviews to the Wall Street Journal, eight to the Washington Post, Reuters, and the New York Times, and two to the AP. In broadcast media, he's given nine interviews to NBC/CNBC, and seven to ABC and CBS, respectively.
