What do you get when you cross the Halloween season, cute dogs, and New York City? That's right, the 27th Annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade! Close to ten thousand handsome hounds trotted and pranced through the Big Apple's Tompkins Square on Saturday, showing off lovely and creative costumes concocted for them by their owners in a competition for thousands of dollars in prizes up for grabs. Dogs were dressed in a wide range of costumes, including new york landmarks, finding Nemo, and even a dog version of Donald Trump.
What do you get when you cross dozens of Corgis with all sorts of different costumes? A Corgi Costume Parade of course! Dozens of Corgi owners dressed up their pups in imaginative costumes just so they could take part in the annual Corgi Halloween parade in downtown Annapolis on Sunday. Organised by the Annapolis Corgi Club, the parade saw Corgis dressed as lions, minions, cowboys, hot dogs, lobsters - you name it, there was probably a Corgi costume at the parade. Entry to the event was free but participants were encouraged to donate in order to cover permit costs. Grinning from ear to ear, the cute canines took to the streets around 11:00 local time and started just outside the Paws Pet Boutique pet supply store. Corgis and their human participants walked around the historic State Circle up to Main Street and then north towards City Dock. Hundreds of locals and tourists turned up to snap photos at the spooky event and cheer on the little pups as they strutted their stuff. The Corgis stole the show as their fancy costumes invaded Annapolis just one day before Halloween. It's hard to imagine how any human could possibly show them up.

Animals at the Chester Zoo must have chosen treat over trick, as zookeepers left behind delicious breakfast meals for the critters stowed away in Halloween pumpkins, just in time for the celebration of the upcoming spooky festival. Zookeepers placed the treats in the animal habitats so the curious creatures could find and enjoy. Amongst the lucky animals were the Andean Bears, Red Pandas and Tortoises. The animals had unique reactions to the pumpkins. Whilst the fierce Black Jaguar played with the pumpkin in the water, the snake simply slithered past. The Meerkats however were most curious about the treats, as they crowded around the pumpkin, elbowing each other to find out what was inside This comes as part of Chester Zoo's Enchantment event which lasts right up until Halloween on Monday, the 31st October.
