Trump To Wait For "Very Big" U.S.-China Trade Deal

Description

President Donald Trump said Thursday he wanted a “very big deal” U.S. trade deal with China. Reuters reports Trump hinted there could be delays if China does not agree to broadly open the Chinese economy to U.S. industry and agriculture. China and the US concluded two days of high-level talks Thursday. Following the talks, Trump said he hasn't yet decided if he will postpone the deadline to raise U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods, currently scheduled for the beginning of March. Trump said, “This isn’t going to be a small deal with China. This is either going to be a very big deal, or it’s going to be a deal that we’ll just postpone for a little while." Trump has threatened to raise tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese goods to 25 percent from 10 percent on March 2 if an agreement is not reached.
