Thousands across Iraq protest the Saudi execution of a prominent Shi'ite cleric and at least two Sunni Muslim mosques are attacked south of Baghdad in an apparent retaliation for the killing. Jillian Kitchener reports.

Abu Baqr al-Saadi was killed in a US air strike a day before, as Washington accuses the group of having been involved in attacks on American troops in the region. IMAGES
The United States announces sanctions on Iraqi low-cost airline Fly Baghdad, saying it provided assistance to Iran's Revolutionary Guards and proxies, while also targeting leaders of a pro-Iranian Iraq militia for sanctions. US National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby tells reporters the sanctions are "designed to protect not only our financial system but our national security." SOUNDBITE
The United States condemns recent Iranian strikes in Pakistan, Iraq and Syria, which Tehran has claimed were carried out against "anti-Iranian terrorist groups." "We do condemn those strikes. We've seen Iran violate the sovereign borders of three of its neighbors in just the past couple of days," State Department spokesman Matthew Miller tells reporters. SOUNDBITE
