Clay Clark is a podcast host and ardent supporter of President Donald Trump. Speaking at a rally held Tuesday in Washington, DC, Clark apparently thought having a 'mass-spreader event' was a good thing. According to HuffPost, Clark told attendees at the event in Freedom Plaza that COVID-19 was a hoax. He then invited them hug each other. Turn to the person next to you and give them a hug, someone you don’t know. Go hug somebody. Go ahead and spread it out, mass spreader. It’s a mass-spreader event! Clay Clark The Twitterverse was singularly unimpressed. Clark also made a point to say he was open to hugs despite being in a committed relationship.
On Monday, Fox News host Brian Kilmeade sounded the alarm over Pres. Trump's looming impeachment. Trump is being impeached over the Capitol Hill siege that saw thousands of dollars of damage and 6 people dead. The longtime host of "Fox & Friends" argued impeachment would only lead to more attacks. "50 state houses are being threatened on Inauguration Day — this is the last thing you wanna do."
A day after inciting a mob of his supporters to riot and breach the US Capitol, President Donald Trump returned to his very important work. Trump's public schedule said he would have 'many meetings' and 'many calls.' CNN reports on Thursday, Trump also awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to golfers Annika Sorenstam and Gary Player. The president's attempted return to business as usual comes amid the ongoing global pandemic and after a stunning siege, which he personally incited. In one of his 'many calls,' Trump phoned into the Republican National Committee's winter meeting. But the RNC is currently an active crime scene. As a pipe bomb was found outside the RNC on Wednesday, Trump was forced to cancel his planned Thursday evening video address.
Former national security advisor Michael Flynn shared an ad from a right-wing activist group on Twitter on Tuesday. The group is calling on President Donald Trump to invoke martial law, to 'temporarily suspend the Constitution,' and have the military hold a new election. In his post, Flynn tagged several Trump-supporting lawyers and media personalities, and wrote, 'Freedom never kneels except for God.' Business Insider reports the ad came from Tom Zawistowski, the president of a right-wing Ohio activist group called the We The People Convention. In fact, the president may not unilaterally cancel, delay, postpone, or change the date of an election, even if he declares martial--that power lies with Congress. Declaring martial law also does not suspend the Constitution, and the military has no role in administering elections.
The Daily Beast is reporting that Donald Trump is considering hosting a campaign event for a 2024 presidential bid in January. The event might fall on the same day as President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration on January 20. The Daily Beast cited sources close to the president. They reported that Trump is attempting to stay relevant even as the world prepares for a Biden administration. Business Insider reports the discussions of a 2024 campaign event mark the latest move in Trump's attempt to derail the start of Biden's presidency.
On Sunday, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden held an online campaign event. During the event he very-clearly mixes up President Donald Trump and former President George Bush. At the event Biden warned against "four more years of George" when telling people why they should vote for him. It's not clear which former president Biden was referring to. Business Insider reports that Biden's wife Jill had to gently remind the former VP that he was running against Donald Trump.
