EU Commission hopeful Von der Leyen vows to propose "Green Deal" for Europe

Description

The three main mainstream groups are expected to back her, but the Greens and the far-left will not, and the vote is a secret ballot that could contain surprises. In an effort to win their support, Von der Leyen pledged on Tuesday to propose a “green deal” for Europe during her first 100 days in office, which would see a carbon-neutral continent by 2050. European Affairs editor Catherine Nicholson goes over her speech.
