Students hold protest against Kashmir status removal, lockdown


Students, many from Jammu and Kashmir, hold a sit-in protest in New Delhi after India removes the region's special constitutional status and imposes an indefinite communications blackout.

    A group of college students at the University of North Carolina have organized a protest to address the shooting of a black man by police. The students gathered on a patio behind the student union before entering the building for a "lay-in." After the group entered the the union, they began to lay down on the green-carpeted floor under the rotunda. The protest followed the shooting death of Keith Lamont Scott. But Charlotte's police chief has stated the 43-year-old carried a handgun and ignored multiple warnings from officers to put it down. He was shot and killed by a black police officer.

    Students at Princeton University have called for the removal of Woodrow Wilson’s name from the School of Public and International Affairs, the latest development in a growing trend across American campuses as students hone in on historical figures and their past intolerance. Wilson was president of the United States from 1913 to 1921 and led the country during the first world war. He oversaw the resegregation of multiple agencies of the federal government and was a vocal advocate for the Ku Klux Klan. Wilson also did not admit any black students to Princeton during his tenure as president of the school – despite Harvard and Yale having admitted them decades prior.
