Palestinians protested after Friday prayers at the Al-Aqsa mosque compound in Jerusalem and briefly clashed with Israeli police, leaving three demonstrators injured.

Jerusalem, May 9 (EFE/EPA).- Hundreds of Palestinian protesters were wounded on Sunday during clashes with Israeli security forces amid growing tension over the potential eviction of six Palestinian families from homes on land claimed by Jewish settlers. The Israeli Supreme Court had postponed the 10 May hearing into the ruling by an Israeli court in East Jerusalem that ordered the forced eviction of six Palestinian families from their homes in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in favor of Jewish families who claimed they used to live in the houses before fleeing in the 1948 war that led to the creation of Israel. Thousands of Israelis, including right-wing groups, are expected to join the 'Flag March' on 10 May which is considered 'Jerusalem Day', an Israeli national holiday that celebrates the establishment of Israeli control over the Old City in the aftermath of the June 1967 Six-Day War. The Flag March route goes through the old city quarters and Damascus gate, ending at the Western Wall.(Camera: ATEF SAFADI).
