  • Scientists To Use DNA In Loch Ness Monster Search

Scientists plan to use environmental DNA (eDNA) to discover if the Loch Ness Monster exists. eDNA sampling is used to monitor marine life like whales and sharks. “This DNA can be captured, sequenced and then used to identify that creature by comparing the sequence obtained to large databases of known genetic sequences from hundreds of thousands of different organisms." Professor Neil Gemmell, University of Otago, New Zealand. The BBC funded an extensive scientific search for the monster in 2003. Their findings are expected to be presented in January 2019.

  • Did Scientists Find Evidence of Thousands of Planets?

Until now, scientists haven’t detected any planets outside of our own Milky Way Galaxy—it’s simply been too difficult to discern such small things from so far away.

  • Scientists Develop DNA Test To Find Cancer

Researchers have developed a new way to diagnose cancer with greater accuracy before tumors are detected using imaging by instead testing for tumor cell DNA in the blood. Patients with very early stages of cancer have DNA from tumor cells circulating in their blood long before an actual tumor develops, researchers say, which may allow for earlier treatment of the disease. Tumor cell molecules can be discovered in a regular blood sample before a tumor is visible via imaging such as tomography, X-ray, ultrasound or MRI.
