The HYLO (High yaw lift off) is a new part designed by Audi Sport for the rear wing support pillars of DTM race cars. It is aimed at increasing safety during accidents. Thanks to the new part and its increased surface area, the aerodynamic forces of lift are reduced during accidents wherein the car has spun and is moving sideways through the air. At the same time, the speed at which these types of accidents occur is reduced. The HYLO was seen for further testing during the official DTM test days at the Nürburgring, when it was fitted to the Audi RS 5 DTM test car, which was running with Mike Rockenfeller’s Twin Busch livery design.
On Saturday and Sunday (November 23/24), the first two joint races of the DTM and the Japanese SUPER GT will be held at the foot of the famous Mount Fuji. Loïc Duval talks about the “Dream Race”, the Fuji International Speedway and motorsport in Japan.
Before the last four races of the 2019 DTM season, five drivers can still have hopes of winning the drivers’ championship – at least strictly mathematically. Especially the two most promising title candidates, René Rast and Nico Müller, are in for some nerve-wracking races. Each of the Audi DTM drivers is aware of the strengths of the other. And both are using their valuable time at home to replenish their energy reserves once again before the season’s final spurt, each in their own way.
Before the DTM races at Assen, the six Audi factory drivers from the DTM fought some spectacular head-to-head battles on a digital slot car race track.
The Ducati racer Andrea Dovizioso has prepared for his guest appearance at the Misano round of the DTM by taking the Audi RS 5 DTM through its paces on the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. Afterwards, the Italian MotoGP ace reflected on his one and a half days of testing.
