  • NASA Is Launching A Mission To Touch The Sun

NASA's Parker Solar Probe will explore the sun's atmosphere wearing a nearly 5-inch coat of carbon-composite solar shields. According to CNN, the mission is expected to launch in early August. This is NASA's first mission to the sun and its outermost atmosphere. It's not a mission that any human can make, so NASA is sending a roughly 10-foot-high probe on the historic mission. The probe will be closer to the sun than any spacecraft has ever reached before.

  • Sun sets on NASA’s Dawn spacecraft after 11 years studying asteroid belt

According to Digital Trends, NASA’s Dawn mission, which was designed to study the largest bodies in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, has come to an end. The Dawn spacecraft originally set out to study two particular bodies in the asteroid belt: the dwarf planet Ceres and the giant asteroid Vesta. The craft has achieved several firsts in space exploration, such as being the first space mission to orbit two destinations, the first spacecraft to orbit an object in the main asteroid belt, the first spacecraft to visit a dwarf planet, and the first mission to visit Ceres and the first mission to visit Vesta. Now that the spacecraft is without fuel, the Dawn will stay in orbit around Ceres where it has been located since 2015

  • NASA To 'Touch The Sun'

Business Insider reports that NASA is about to launch a $1.5 billion space mission to "touch" the sun. The mission is to study its atmosphere, solar wind, and other mysteries. The Parker Solar Probe is scheduled to rocket toward space on Sunday, August 12. The launch was originally planned for Saturday. An unspecified technical issue , though, halted that attempt. Meteorologists say there's about a 60% chance the weather will cooperate for Sunday's launch.

  • NASA's Solar Probe Prepares For Mission To Sun's Corona

According to Business Insider, NASA is preparing to launch a spacecraft aimed at the Sun. The Parker Solar Probe is also set to become the fastest moving man-made object once it reaches space. The spacecraft will accelerate to 430,000 miles-per-hour for a six-year mission orbiting our solar system's star. The 1.5 billion-dollar probe will travel within 3.8 million miles of the solar surface, as it orbits the Sun to study it's outermost layer.
