Activists protest push to over-spend on 'imported' 'Black Friday'

Description

Dozens of activists gather at Amazon's French headquarters in Clichy (Hauts-de-Seine), a suburb of Paris, and climb over a fence in a bid to protest over-spending and its ecological consequences on the day billed 'Black Friday', an "imported" concept from the United States which incites consumers to snap up supposed cut-price consumer goods.

  • Try These Psychological Tricks To Save More And Spend Less On Black Friday

It's easy to blow through your paycheck during the holiday season, especially when stores are trying to trick you into buying more than you normally would. But to keep more cash in your pocket this holiday season, here are some simple strategies to spend less and save more. When you come across an item that you think you need to have, hold it for at least 10 seconds and ask yourself if that money wouldn't be better used somewhere else. Another exercise to try is the "stranger test." Imagine that a stranger is handing you the item in one hand or the amount of cash the item is worth in their other hand. If you'd rather take the cash, you're better of skipping the purchase. It also helps to only pay in cash as a means of curbing your spending. Leave your plastic cards at home and only take cash with you. Also, try shopping alone if you can. The more people you're with the more likely you are to impulsively buy things.
