As we shift away from the conventional and enter a world powered by electrification, CUPRA is redefining elements like performance. After unveiling the CUPRA Formentor Concept earlier this year, CUPRA is going one step further into its vision of electrified performance with the CUPRA Tavascan Concept. The unique and special car brand is now linking its high-performance DNA with state-of-the-art powertrain technology and sophisticated, emotional, expressive design. The result is the CUPRA Tavascan Electric Concept, a vehicle designed to meet the needs of a market that is forecasted to grow by 15% a year - the all-electric coupe SUV.Bringing together the silhouette of a four-door crossover, with the presence of an SUV and the sleekness of a sporty coupe, the CUPRA Tavascan Concept is the first road CUPRA to use a 100% electric powertrain, its proportions accentuated and emboldened by its electric heart, thus offering zero tailpipe emissions. The CUPRA Tavascan Concept takes its name from a village located in the Pyrenees which is unique due to its stunning landscape and surrounding nature.
With a pencil, paper and loads of talent. That’s how the design of the CUPRA Tavascan Extreme E Concept began, revealing the design language of the brand’s future series production 100% electric SUV that will reach the markets in 2024. This is the story behind the creation of a concept that is set to shape the future of the most extreme electric vehicle in racing competition.
CUPRA injects its DNA into the CUPRA Tavascan Extreme E Concept. The all-electric off-road racing car is the next stage in the brand’s Extreme E adventure, which also hints at the design language to be used in the future series production CUPRA Tavascan, the brand’s second 100% electric model based that will be designed and developed in Barcelona and will reach Europe and overseas markets in 2024.
The electric car is now the present of the automotive industry. Its breakthrough is bringing about changes in the entire development and production process of a car, beginning with its design. Which elements are eliminated? How can you increase range through design? We find the answers in the design of CUPRA's new concept car, the wholly electric Tavascan SUV coupe.
Every new model begins with an exercise in creativity by its designers. There are no limits. It has to stand out, catch you off guard, and lead the way for the brand’s future design. Perhaps that model will be an example of where the brand wants to go, or it may become something you can reach out and touch. This is the case of the CUPRA Tavascan. It was unveiled in 2019 at the Frankfurt Motor Show as a concept car that surprised with its bold lines and rule-breaking design. Four years later it once again astonished the world during its world premiere in Berlin, a model that hasn’t lost an ounce of its essence while maintaining CUPRA’s leitmotiv - if we can dream it, we can create it.
If the exterior of the CUPRA Tavascan is a clear statement of where the brand is heading, its interior continues the same design language. The key to its revolutionary interior is based on the new hierarchy of elements divided into three levels.

Disruptive, emotional, and expressive. With the CUPRA Tavascan, our team of designers has created a design language that is intended for the new generation of car lovers. Julio Lozano, Head of Exterior Design at CUPRA, explains how this challenging creation has led to new opportunities to show the world “who we are and how we want to be at CUPRA”.
