The Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign will make its first public appearance in Japan at the Daikanyama T-site in Tokyo on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 7 a.m. JST. The first-ever collaboration between Nissan and Italdesign, the GT-R50 prototype may become the blueprint for an extremely limited run of hand-built production vehicles. The vehicle commemorates the 50th anniversaries of the GT-R, in 2019, and Italdesign, in 2018.
The Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign will make its world debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in Chichester, England, on July 12. The first-ever collaboration between Nissan and Italdesign, the GT-R50 prototype shown at Goodwood could become the blueprint for an extremely limited run of hand-built production vehicles. The vehicle commemorates the 50th anniversaries of both the GT-R, in 2019, and Italdesign, in 2018.
Nissan and Italdesign have created a new prototype vehicle – the Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign – in their first-ever collaboration. Based on a production 2018 Nissan GT-R NISMO model, the unique car commemorates the 50th anniversaries of both the GT-R and Italdesign and will make its debut in Europe next month. Italdesign developed, engineered and built the car. The distinctive, crisp exterior and interior designs were created by the teams at Nissan Design Europe in London and Nissan Design America. Starting at the front, the Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign features a distinct golden inner element that stretches across almost the full width of the vehicle. The hood has a more pronounced power bulge, and the thin LED headlights stretch from the wheel arch to the lip above the outer cooling intakes.
The Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign starts with our latest GT-R NISMO and reinterprets it with a European-style sensibility, combining Japanese performance and Italian craftsmanship. After a strong global tour with the GT-R50 prototype making appearances at Goodwood, Spa-Francorchamps, Nissan Crossing and more, a customer version inspired by the prototype will be produced, with each car tailored for each customer. Italdesign will build no more than 50 vehicles, with pricing starting at 990,000 euros. One of the world’s leading companies in the provision of development services for the automotive industry. The mission of Italdesign is to provide a wide range of services dedicated to the development of new vehicles and industrial products, ranging from styling to engineering and from prototypes manufacturing to testing and validation.
The GT-R and Italdesign both celebrate their 50th anniversary this year, so Nissan and the Italian design house decided to collaborate on a very special project. The result is the striking GT-R50 by Italdesign, a one-off build to celebrate all things GT-R as well as show off the talents of Italdesign's crew. Right off the bat we'll tell you that the GT-R50 isn't the next-generation R36 GT-R. That point was stressed by Nissan design boss Alfonso Albaisa, who described the car as a GT-R without limits.
